Posada

Welcome Mary & Joseph to stay at your place

‘Posada’ (Spanish for ‘inn’) is a Christmas activity when small versions of Mary and Joseph travel around different households in the community during Advent and stay there for one night.

People sign up in advance, offering to host Mary and Joseph for a night. It’s open to everyone, and lots of families find it’s a great way to be involved in the Christmas story.

On Christmas eve, the figures are returned to church (during our Christingle service), as everyone gets ready to welcome the Christ child once again.

Posada is a chance to host Mary and Joseph – to make room for Jesus at Christmas time!

If you offer to host Mary and Joseph for a night, they will be delivered to you by their previous hosts at an agreed time. There is a short doorstep prayer that you can share together as the figures are passed on. During their stay with you if you would like to take photos or keep a short diary of what they've been doing in your home, there will be a little diary that you can record them in. You can also email us any photos of Mary and Joseph on their travels to be added to our Facebook pages and website.

We hope you are excited about this year's Posada and will sign up to host Mary and Joseph for a night during Advent.
